Judas, one of the twelve, conspired with the Romans and the Sanhedrin to arrest Jesus the Christ. He was given 30 pieces of silver to arrest his master and would signal Christ to the guards with a kiss. At his arrival at the Garden of Gethsemane, Judas went up to Jesus, said "Hail, Rabbi!", and kissed the Son of Man on the cheek. Jesus then gave up to the guard, however not before Simon Peter drew his sword and severed the right ear of Malchus, the slave of the High Priest. Jesus instantly stopped the fighting and went with the guards to his trial before Caiaphas. Matthew 26:47-56, Mark 14:43-52, Luke 22:47-53, John 18:1-27

Jesus was brought to Caiaphas by the guard to be tried for blasphemy. Peter followed behind them until they reached the site for the trial and then he waited outside around a charcoal fire. In the trial, the chief priests were trying to obtain false witness against Jesus, yet they could not. This was due to conflicting testimonies and loss of information. Finally, one man came forward saying about Jesus "This man said, 'I can destroy the Temple of God and within three days rebuild it'" ( Matthew 27:61). The high priest questioned Jesus about this, yet He remained silent. Eventually, the high priest ordered Jesus to speak and asked him if He is the messiah, and he spoke. He said that He was the messiah and He had been teaching in the temples and was never questioned. However, now that the priest had said that, Jesus responded " From now on you will see 'the Son of Man seated at the right hand of the Power' and 'coming on the clouds of heaven.' " After hearing this, the High Priest tore his garments (in direct violation with the Law of Moses) and accused Jesus of blasphemy. The guards then taunted Jesus and he was brought to Pilate. Matthew 26: 57-68, Mark 14:53-65, Luke 22:66-71, John 18:19-24

During the trial of Jesus, Peter was outside in the courtyard around a charcoal fire. First, one of the maids came over to him and said "You too were with Jesus the Galilean." (Matthew 26:69). Then peter denied her in front of everyone there. He moved over to the gate of the courtyard to try to get away from the questioning. However, another woman saw him and said to everyone around her "This man was with Jesus the Nazorean." (Matthew 26:71). Again Peter denied her. A little while later, a man came to Peter and accused him of being with Jesus because of his speech and his dialect was one of a Galilean. Peter furiously cursed and swore and denied that he knew Jesus. Just then, the cock crowed and Peter realized that Jesus was right. He had denied his lord three times. He went out of the courtyard and began to weep bitterly for his betrayal. Matthew 27: 69-75, Mark 15: 66,-72 Luke 22: 54-65, John 18: 15-18
